facebook-cannot-merge  If you have made your way to this blog post you must be as frustrated as I am with trying to merge your facebook pages or places that are too far apart. While attempting to merge a place page and a fan page I ran into a major snag that seemed to have no solution. The issue I came across was that the location to the fan page had a marker in Columbus Ohio when our actual location was near Dayton Ohio. I updated the address several times and could not get the marker to move to the right location. I made attempts to contact both Facebook and Bing and after several months have gotten no response from either.

On to the solution...

I simply set the fan page to "has no physical address" under the drop down for street address. Then simply merged the place page with the no location fan page and poof, problem solved. In the variations of this situation if your marker is not in the right location for your fan page, create a place page with the right one and just merge the two. Luckily I have a work email and claiming has been a non issue as of late, they have been approving all of my requests within a week or so.

good luck, and happy networking!

Robots also like to read your comments! ...yes, they have feelings too! ;)just posting this for those that have this issue... Hi Cody! I'm having this problem, and tried your advice --- removed the address from the fan page making it 'has no physical address' tried to merge the pages together, and still got the '...too far apart' message.. so I waited a few hours to see if the address needed to update... still having the same '...too far apart' message.... here are the two pages I am trying to merge... http://www.facebook.com/pages/All-Over-Town-Limousine-Formal-Wear/206883374866 and http://www.facebook.com/pages/All-Over-Town-Limo-Formal-Wear/167911003222622 please take a look and see if you find anything I'm missing, let me know if I need to wait longer, or give any advice you think may help! :) Thanks a million! For my situation I was merging a place page with a fan page. I incidentally fixed the location beacon issue in that process and wrote this blog about it. Some things I would suggest trying are as follows. First from a smart phone I would attempt checking into the business from its location and create a new place for it in addition if one shows up. I would remove the physical location on both of those pages if possible or just the main one. Then claim the newly created place from your facebook account with your work email, hoping you have one set up and this process was only taking a couple days for me when i was doing it. After claiming make sure to put in the full street address on the new place page and attempt your merger with the main fan page, after you should be able to merge in the third page as well. I understand your frustration though, using third party sites to promote business can be a nightmare when they dont have any tech support when things dont work. I am currently involved in some google places issues and its not like i can just ring them and say fix it! Let me know how the above works out for you though, if not im sure there are some other things we could try. p.s. I was impressed with your app submission forms on the place page and how the different apps link to each other, i was wondering if you used another app to make that one or wrote it yourself. Same with the customer feedback, does that post right to that page? p.s.s. message me on fb if I dont respond on here in 24hrs Ok... Now I waited 24 hours, and I'm still getting the '...too far apart' message.... so frustrating? Help? omg, sorry for the late response and I completely understand your situation. I am going to check out these links and give you my two cents here soon. Thanks! | JSocial Comments by PloPixel
